The FREE friendly hospital transport service for cancer patients registered at Meadowbank Health Centre

Becoming a driver for Meadowbank Car 4U is easy. You can give as much time as they wish, and use your own car*. For instance, some drivers only work mornings, some only afternoons, while others only do local journeys. It’s really up to you.

While being a driver for Meadowbank car 4u is voluntary, you are paid a running allowance of 45p per mile. You will also be given any training you wish, plus a full set of guidelines on how the service works, we’ll even show you the ropes before starting to drive for us.

We try very hard to balance the needs of patients and drivers. While we need a certain number of drivers to provide a complete service for patients, if we have too many, some drivers may end up feeling under-utilised and under-valued. For this reason we may need to keep a waiting list for drivers.

If you are interested in becoming a driver for Meadowbank Car 4U, or would just like to know more, please get in touch.

*your insurance premiums should be unaffected but it is advisable that you notify your insurer to let them know you intend to use the car for voluntary work.

Are you a patient?
